Tempe Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:
- A 31-year-old Glendale man was arrested Sept. 6 on the 6800 block of North 57th Drive on suspicion of burglary, according to a police report.A resident of a Tempe neighborhood called police after seeing a man and a woman driving a truck around and knocking on several doors, police reported.
The witness told police the man and woman in the car knocked on a specific door, and, when no one answered, drove their truck to the alley behind the house, police reported.
The woman then drove to the front of the house and drove back into the alley after approximately 20 minutes, according to the report.
Shortly after the car entered the driveway, the man and the woman drove out of the neighborhood, police reported.
Police entered the house and found that a flat-screen television, laptop, DVD player and $400 in cash were missing, police reported.
Officers stopped the truck in Glendale, and the man driving the truck had the television and laptop, according to the report.
The man told police a woman who had been with him had gotten the television at a gas station after lunch, police reported.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail and booked, police said.
- A 20-year-old Mesa man was arrested Sept. 6 on the 600 block of East Julie Drive on suspicion of making a false report to police, criminal trespassing, burglary, failure to appear and two counts of fugitive from justice, according to a police report.The man’s mother called police and requested that her son be contacted, police reported.
When police reached him, the man gave them a incorrect date of birth and spelling of his last name, police said.
He then fled from police and hid in two different fenced yards, according to the report.
Police later found the man in one of the yards, according to the report.
Upon further investigation, police found that the man was involved in a burglary the day before, police reported.
Police said he had entered through the sliding door of a house and forced his way inside. He proceeded to steal from the house and then fled when the homeowner returned and called police, according to the report.
The man was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.
