Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

The bicyclist yelled at the man to move, but he did not, causing him to bump into the man, who proceeded to swing a large walking stick at the bicyclist, striking him once in the head, police said.

Police reported the man chased and continued to swing his stick at the pedestrian, hitting him once more in the upper arm.

Two bystanders saw the altercation and attempted to help, but the man instead threw rocks at them, according to police.

The man gave the officer his name, which matched the car owner’s, and the man fit the warrant’s description, according to police.

The officer detained the man and a search of his car revealed a glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine, police reported.

The man said he had smoked methamphetamine in the past but denied that the pipe was his, the officer reported.
