This little known artist has a bright future ahead if he keeps turning out music like this.
The shining star of his small collection is track, "The War." The mellow, at times upbeat song is about a man fighting to keep someone from leaving him behind. Repeating throughout the song, ”… don’t lose what we have won ...” Record croons about taking care to not throw away something built with time.
Next, "House" has much of the same vibe as "The War," but with more of a lullaby feel to it. The song demonstrates the age-old message, home is where the heart is, as he urges his loved one that home is where they’re together.
Following "House," "Common Folly" ties in a folky theme to the album, pulling in a larger audience. The simple, but sweet love song will brighten anyone’s day.
Lastly is "Skin," which tells of a romantic encounter but also a deep love without getting too dramatic. Like all his song, Record finds a way to keep things light in situations that carry weight, especially in this song.
All the songs flow very much together, working like a cleaned up version of indie-rock, appealing to a wide audience without sacrificing meaning and emotion. Other than his EP album, you can find some of his other works on YouTube along with some beautiful reimagined covers, such as a cover of Lana Del Rey’s "Summertime Sadness." More is set to follow with the release of his full album, "Bones," on Nov. 24, for which you’ll want to keep an eye out.
