Tempe Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:
- A 31-year-old Gilbert man was arrested Oct. 12 at the intersection of East Rio Salado Parkway and South Smith Road on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to a police report.
A driver and two passengers were leaving a parking lot and attempting to merge their car into the exit lane when a man in a Honda Civic refused to let them merge, police reported.
The man in the Civic then pulled a gun out and pointed it at the driver of the car, according to the report.
Police said a passenger in the other called police and followed the Civic to inform police of its location.
The Civic was pulled over, but the driver had thrown the gun out of the car before he was pulled over, according to police.
Police were able to locate the gun, police reported.
The man was then transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked on three counts of aggravated assault, according to the report.
- A 30-year-old man was arrested Oct. 12 in the 2100 block of East Cedar Street on suspicion of drug paraphernalia possession, dangerous drug possession and failure to appear, according to a police report.
Police said they saw the man in an area near railroad tracks which had a posted "No Trespassing" sign.
The man told officers that he had been looking at rocks, but he began acting suspicious when police questioned him, according to the report.
Police searched the man and found a large steak knife in his back pocket, police reported.
The man had no identification on him and initially gave police a fictitious name, according to the report.
Police said they also found a sunglasses case with approximately five grams of meth and several hypodermic needles, two of which were loaded with water and meth.
They also found that there was an outstanding warrant for the man's arrest from Tempe, police said.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see the judge for the warrant, according to the report.
