Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday:
- An 18-year-old Apache Junction man was arrested Oct. 10 on the 120 block of East Fifth Street on suspicion of theft, according to a police report.
On Sept. 22, two men entered the bike transition area of the Nathan Tempe Triathlon race on the 80 block of West Rio Salado Parkway, the report said.
Once inside, each of them took a bicycle belonging to an athlete competing in the swimming portion of the triathlon, police reported.
The man took a Cervélo P3 racing bike estimated to be worth $7,500, along with a helmet and sunglasses, according to police.
The man rode the bicycle out of the transition area along the designated bike path, where a race official took a photo of him, police said.
He then continued on and left through the US Airways parking garage, the report said.
The two men later stored the bikes at their residence in Apache Junction and used the bikes to train for the Navy, according to the report.
On Oct. 10, the two men saw the photo taken of the man riding away at the race on local media outlets and turned themselves into police, police said.
The stolen items were impounded, and the two men were booked in Tempe City Jail and released pending charges, according to police.

A 23-year-old Gilbert man was arrested Oct. 12 on the 2000 block of South Priest Drive on suspicion of dangerous drug, marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.
An investigation revealed the man had been a passenger in a car crash at 55th Street and West Broadway Road in Tempe and ran from the scene, the report said.
Witnesses gave police a description of the man, who police located on South Priest Drive, according to police.
As officers approached him, they saw him throw a pill bottle on the ground behind his girlfriend, police said.
Police recovered the pills and reported they were Xanax.
Officers searched the man and found marijuana in a cellophane wrapper in his front left pant pocket, police reported.
He was taken to Tempe City Jail, booked and released pending charges, the report said.
