Coming from Portland, Ore., Jordan Davis didn't know anyone when he arrived at ASU, but he quickly got involved in Undergraduate Student Government and has risen through the ranks to president of the Tempe campus.

Always interested in politics growing up, Davis joined campaigns as a volunteer and his background in politics made a way for him to meet people and get involved in student life at ASU.

"I started getting involved in campaigns as a volunteer," he said. "I came to ASU from Portland, Ore., and didn't know anybody and wanted to get involved to meet people and make friends."

Davis spent his freshman year as an intern in USG and last year, with the backing of the Downtown and Tempe campus presidents, decided to run for president of the Tempe campus.

"We had a bipartisan ticket, and it was a really great experience," he said.

Davis said his passion for the students of ASU is what drives him to be a better leader as he works for the students to provide them with the best experience possible during their time at ASU.

"I love USG, (and) I love ASU," he said. "The University is large enough for everyone to get involved."

Davis said his biggest achievement as president has been the unanimous passing of the athletic fee bill by all student governments, but his team has a few more items it hopes to get done before his term ends.

"We're working on having a new student regent appointed and hiring an election commissioner," he said. "We have a really talented team working for us."

Davis's team has also been working on bringing motivational and inspirational people to speak at ASU with the most recent being Greg Smith, a "strength coach" that speaks on overcoming challenges.

Vice President of Policy Casey Clowes has worked with Davis for more than a year after meeting through USG. She said she thinks Davis's passion for the students is what makes him a great leader.

"Jordan has been doing a great job." she said. "He puts the students first, and that is what makes him a great president."

Director of Outreach Taylor McGlone describes Davis as an unique individual because he looks out for his fellow students.

"He really truly cares about the students," she said. "He really wants the needs and wants of the students to be met."

Intern Director Cass Possehl works closely with Davis and said she thinks he has changed the way student presidents will work in the future.

"Jordan has been a fantastic leader for USG," she said. "He has transformed what it means to be a student president."

Being open and transparent is important for student leaders and Davis possesses both of these, Possehl said.

"As intern director, we have one-on-one meetings weekly," she said. "He has an open-door policy for everyone and will work with you on whatever you want or need to get done."

Davis said he has no future political goals after this year and is focusing on what he wants to achieve now before starting his next chapter.

"My goal right now is to go to law school," he said. "That's my next goal."
