- A 24-year-old Mesa man was arrested March 11 on the 500 block of North Broadway Road on suspicion of first- and second-degree burglary and unlawful flight from law enforcement, according to a police report.
A neighbor witnessed two men breaking into a garage and burglarizing the residence as the victims were sleeping Jan. 21 on the 700 block of East Cavalier Drive, the report said.
The man and the other man proceeded to burglarize the victim’s vehicle, but only after urinating on the vehicle’s tire, police said.
The report said that the witness reported the incident and license plate to police.
Through the information, officers were able to locate the man's car in his neighborhood, police said.
Once the man was located, police sounded the siren and activated the emergency lights, the report said.
Instead of stopping, the man fled at a high speed, police said.
Police said the man confessed to the burglary but said that he could not recover all of the stolen items because his partner, whose name he would not reveal, took some of the property with him, according to the report.
- A 27–year-old Gilbert man was arrested March 13 between East Baseline Road and South Rural Road on suspicion of narcotic drug possession and use, obstruction of a highway or public thoroughfare, giving a false report to law enforcement and being a fugitive from justice, according to the police report.
Police contacted the man during a stop when he ran east on Rural Road as traffic was going north to try to catch the bus, the report said.
Police said that during the stop, the man gave an incorrect date of birth that was off by one day and a jumbled social security number. The man said he did this was because he was scared, according to the report.
Before police searched the man, he said he had a black bag in his backpack containing a usable amount of heroin, three heroin needles and a spoon used to boil heroin, police said.
Police also found orange pills that Poison Control identified as Suboxone, which are used to treat opioid addiction, the report said.
The man told police he had a prescription for the pills, according to the report.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
