Former ASU athletic director Steve Patterson was fired from his current position at Texas Tuesday morning, less than two years after bolting from Tempe to take the vacant job after DeLoss Dodds retired.

Clashes with donors over ticket prices and the football team's 1-9 record against ranked opponents in Patterson's tenure spurred a meeting with university president Gregory Fenves, per multiple reports.

He had guaranteed contract worth at $1.4 million through 2019.

Patterson spent 19 months as athletic director at ASU. He was preceded by Lisa Love and was succeeded by Ray Anderson in January 2014.
