Tempe Police: Man tries to steal bike from Wal-Mart through side exit

The Tempe Police station, which is located on Fifth Avenue near College Avenue. 


Tempe Police reported the following incidents on Sunday:

A Guadalupe man was arrested Oct. 21 in the 1300 block of West Elliot Road on suspicion of retail theft, according to a police report.

Police first arrived to the scene after Wal-Mart employees caught the man stealing approximately $168 worth of products, police reported. The man also had tried to steal a bicycle out of a side entrance, according to the report.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.


A Tempe man was arrested Oct. 22 in the 80 block of West Rio Salado Parkway on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and for having an outstanding warrant, according to a police report.

Police were first called to the scene after officers smelled burnt marijuana near where the man had been sitting, police reported.

After getting permission from the man, officers searched his backpack and found a plastic quart bag containing marijuana, according to the report.

The man claimed he had a medical marijuana card but police found the man did not, police reported.

Police transported the man to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked held to see a judge, according to the report.
