It's always a great feeling to beat your bitter rival. The Sun Devils did just that at the Duel in the Desert meet at Tucson as the men's track and field team won 105-92 and the women won 110-87.

ASU won 23 of the 28 events. In the 15 events the Sun Devils didn't win, they swarmed the rest of the board to get as many points as they could.

ASU redshirt sophomore Maggie Ewen once again had a great day competing, taking first place in each event she competed in from discus throws, hammer throw and the shot put.

This domination also came from the runners as well. In the men's 100-meter dash, the Sun Devils took spots one through four in the leaderboard. Senior Jamol James took first, graduate Reggie Lewis took second, redshirt senior Isaiah Underwood took third and senior Ben Trotter took fourth. James also took first in the 200 meter dash and on the women's side, senior Jasmine Gibbs won the women's 200-meter dash with junior LaTroya Franklin taking second behind her.

Junior Keyasia Tibbs broke the meet's record for for triple jump with a leap of 13.05 meters. It was her second time in three weeks breaking the 13-meter mark; prior to April 16, no female ASU jumper had ever done it. Tibbs initially set the record of 12.96 meters on April 10, but it was short-lived.

The Duel in the Desert also featured the return of redshirt junior Tim White from spring football and it appears he didn't miss a beat, taking first in the long and triple jump.

The team looked the best so far this season at this meet and with only a week remaining until the Pac-12 Championship meet, the team is catching momentum at the perfect time of the season.
