An ASU hockey player collapsed during an outdoor exercise Thursday and has remained hospitalized since, a University spokesperson said in a written statement.
According to The Athletic, Tempe Fire Medical Rescue responded to a report of a "heat-related illness" at the address of Sun Angel Stadium at 8:31 a.m.
That morning, it was 90 degrees Fahrenheit in the Phoenix area, with 46% humidity, according to the National Weather Service. An extreme heat warning was in effect at the time and has remained since.
"The university offers its support for the student-athlete, their family and all of our student-athletes during this difficult time," the statement said.
Further information on the incident is limited due to privacy laws, the spokesperson stated.
