Boo to Weather.com for posting the predicted snowfall for Phoenix 365 days a year and 366 days for leap years. That's some valuable real estate that's getting taken up with a statistic that any meteorologist, even ones in Arizona, can predict with 100 percent accuracy, every day. You might as well put the chance of puppies falling from the sky. With the crazy things weather is doing these days, we feel that's got a better chance of happening.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is on a roll — a roll of blunders, that is.

In light of the teacher strikes in Chicago, we’d like to reiterate that the future of America’s youth lies in two sets of hands: those of the educator and those of the student.

We’ve seen them on campus — the protesters picketing on the intersection of Cady and Orange malls. They hold long vertical banners, condemning “fornicators,” “gays,” “lesbians” and all “masturbators.” They spew profanities, while they preach religious principles to save ASU’s population from an eternity in hell.

It’s been a year since “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was repealed and not much has changed. The Washington Times reports via the Pentagon that the repeal has “no adverse effect on morale, unit cohesion, recruitment or military readiness.”

Bravo to the increase in Hispanic students enrolled in college. Cronkite News reported via a Pew Hispanic Center analysis that for the first time, two million Hispanic students, ages 18 to 24, are enrolled in college. Bravo to an increase in diversity on college campuses and to seeing more students choose higher-level education.

Boo to the ASU shuttle service for having a lapse in service when the number of buses is reduced after peak traffic time. There is no service from the Downtown campus to the Tempe campus at 8 p.m. and no service from the Tempe campus to the Downtown campus at 8:30 p.m. This makes for an inconveniently long wait to get home at night.

Michelle Obama gave one of her most distinguished speeches as first lady of the U.S. on Tuesday. It will go on to mark either her last notable moment as first lady, or the beginning of a promising second term. Similar words can be used to describe Ann Romney’s speech last Wednesday. Romney, poised and beautiful, appealed to her audience’s sensibilities and latched onto their political frustrations.

Bravo to Marvel's “The Avengers” return to theaters Labor Day weekend. The film has already demolished box office records, but we'd be lying if we said that we feel ashamed for contributing more to that total this weekend, mere weeks before the film is released on DVD and BluRay, which is a blatant money making ploy. Regardless, you know you'll be at a theater near you again this weekend, just like the rest of us.

When we enter college, we become a part of an institution that encourages self-awareness through reflection, intellectual growth with academia and civic responsibility by voting. By expressing our political opinions, often for the first time, we situate ourselves gradually within the national political landscape. We begin to see ourselves as voters, constituents and members of a demographic and slowly, but surely, we become more and more adamant about the ideologies with which we align ourselves: Democrat or Republican, pro-choice or pro-life, big government or local government.
