Letters to the Editor: Transcript trouble

I had to order an original transcript from Student Services recently, only to be shocked by the price. The price is $10; three years ago it was only $3, and it's not like they have improved the quality of paper or security (anti-fraud).

I am graduating this year, and that means applying to about 15 places [graduate schools] (spending $150 for transcripts alone). Something needs to be done -- otherwise next year the price may be $15.

This issue affects everybody, regardless of when you are graduating.

Losing sleep over ASU construction

I live at the Orchid House (part of the Brickyard on Mill) where ASU is doing their first project. Not counting all the complaints when they were building the classrooms at the Brickyard buildings, I have been kept up by their construction all hours for the last two months.

I have made complaints to the City Council, police department and President Crow. I must say that the city and police have been very responsive; the only response I have gotten from ASU is that it is "not them."

...Perhaps people should be advised of this before they let ASU into their backyards. I, for one, thought it was a great idea, until I had to live with them.

I realize in some ways this is petty, but on the other hand I thought ASU had agreed to comply with city ordinances when they were expanding off campus.
