Googling Britney Spears and Anne Nicole Smith will bring up millions of Web sites about the infamous celebrities. But if that sounds like too much info to wade through, don't worry: new gossip site Dotspotter.com has everything you need to know about the stars you stalk in one easy stop.
Dotspotter has three main components: a search engine, user voting and comments, and user-generated gossip and material.
"Dotspotter.com is for celebrity gossip, pop culture content," says Jeff Clark, vice president of sales and marketing for the Berkley, Calif.-based site. "[This Web site] would be considered a content-based social network - a celebrity gossip site that highlights the pulse of pop culture."
When searching for any celebrity on Dotspotter, users will discover thousands of articles and pictures indexed by the Web site's administrators. Users can also vote on their favorite pictures and articles; the top choices are put on the homepage.
Dotspotter's homepage also has a map that shows where different celebrities have been sighted. Users can write their own stories and submit their own photos, and their sightings are added to the map.
"The way we are building the site is so it can become the first place online to go to, to disengage," Clark says. "It's a place for people to go and escape and stay current on pop culture."
