CARS BUT NO GUNS?
(In response to Oonagh McQuarrie’s April 11 column, “Lunacy has prevailed.”)
What I can’t wrap my head around is the idea that cars are acceptable but guns aren’t. The leading cause of death from unnatural causes is automobile-related accidents; drunk drivers kill more per year than gun owners.
Yet for some strange reason that doesn’t make people want restrictions on vehicle ownership. There is no “Ban Cars” movement.
Driver’s licenses are easier to get than a firearm. In fact, a college student is more likely to be involved in a fatal automobile accident than to ever be involved in a fatal shooting.
One ought to be paralyzed with fear being so close to Mill Avenue, especially on weekends.
