NEGATIVE LIGHT
(In response Dulce Paloma Baltazar Pedraza’s Jan. 25 article, “Downtown Arts Expo attracts very few students.”)
Well to start off, maybe writing about the event in a positive light and making it sound attractive instead of dismal would offer a solution to the problems you present in this article … which are well known and frankly old news.
There is a gallery in the basement of the UCENT building featuring works from a wide range of local artists … currently John Randal Nelson. The AE England Gallery is across the street in a multipurpose space shared by ASU, City of Phoenix, Fair Trade Cafe and Artlink. There are about five galleries within walking distance from Downtown campus and so on … There are currently exhibition opportunities for Tempe or Downtown students and local artists to display their work in the UCENT hallways.
