Letter: Sinema’s unwarranted criticism

In response to Hunter Moss’ Oct. 30 letter to the editor, “Kyrsten Sinema mocks ASU students.”

In his letter trashing Democratic congressional candidate Kyrsten Sinema, Hunter Moss neglected to engage in the very basic ethical action of disclosing that he has a vested interest in the matter:  Moss works for a consultant for Kyrsten Sinema's Tea Party opponent Vernon Parker, as noted on Moss's LinkedIn page.

What is even more telling is that Moss could not come up with a single reason in his letter why people should support his own candidate, so he instead engages in the politics of personal destruction against the opposing candidate.  There are numerous reasons why Moss can't talk up his own candidate, including Parker's anti-education, anti-woman, anti-LGBT and anti-environment extremist positions. Not exactly ASU's cup of tea.

Sinema, in contrast, has articulated a comprehensive strategy for putting Americans back to work and to making sure that all of us are part of the American fabric.  Her years of service in the state Legislature show a distinguished history of supporting public education and protecting the rights of women and LGBT citizens.  She would be a Member of Congress of whom ASU can be proud.

The choice is clear:  Kyrsten Sinema wants to move all of us forward, and ASU will be a major partner in this endeavor; Vernon Parker wants to repeat the disastrous policies of the Bush/Cheney years, and he wants to impose a radical, extremist social agenda on all of us.

Vote on or before next Tuesday.
