Tempe Police: K-9 finds marijuana in man's car

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday: An 18-year-old Tempe man was arrested on Sept. 28 at College Avenue and Baseline Road on suspicion of drug and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.According to police, the man was originally contacted during a stop for a traffic violation and told officers they could search his car.The man waited on the sidewalk while a K-9 and an officer searched the vehicle, police reported.The officers found marijuana in the center console of the vehicle, in the backseat area in a backpack in a Van’s lunchbox and in the trunk, according to the report. The man stated that most of the marijuana found was his, but the marijuana in the black backpack belonged to a passenger, police reported. The man said he has been buying and using marijuana since the eighth grade and that he recently started selling marijuana within the last month, according to the report. He also said he supports his marijuana habit with money from his job as a pizza delivery boy and through selling marijuana, police reported. The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held pending charges, according to a police report. A 23-year-old Tempe man was arrested on Sept 28 at West Carter Drive and South Mill Avenue on suspicion of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.The man was originally stopped for multiple traffic violations, and officers found he was driving on a suspended license, police reported. Officers found marijuana in the center console and marijuana shake scattered across the floor, seat and center console, according to the report. They also found a glass pipe used for smoking marijuana in the center console, police reported. The man was transported to the Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and released pending charges, police reported. Reports compiled by Andrew Nicla.
