Broke's the New Black: The Art of Looking Effortless
There’s always that girl- the one who looks seemingly perfect, no matter what hour of the day. How does she do it?

In honor of my birthday being yesterday, I decided to compile a list of some of the more engaging birthday songs out there.
The season premiere of Dexter left me enthralled and attentive as ever. If you’re anything like me, you find that Dexter balances a perfect amount of mystery and gore.
I’m totally guilty of venting about my schoolwork from time to time, but after having attended Woman’s As Hero’s screening of “To Educate A Girl” last Wednesday, I’ll have to think twice before airing those frustrations again. After having spoken with the president of Woman As Hero (check out what we talked about) a couple weeks ago, I knew I wanted to be part of or at least see what the club was putting on. Before the showing started, Dr. Heather Switzer, the faculty advisor for WAH, introduced the subject with a lecture on her past research that focused on the development of identity among indigenous Maasai schoolgirls in rural Kenya, Africa. What Americans would call ‘adolescence’ has traditionally been rushed through for Maasai females.
This weekend, I think it’s safe to say I made one of the coolest things I’ve ever made thus far in my life. If you’re a crafter like myself or just an avid internet fiend, you may have seen this Crayola-inspired work of art around, so obviously I cannot take the credit for the design (although I will admit, I did do something very similar at one point in time). This project is very easy to make and all you need is a pack of 48 crayons (Crayola, Rosart, it’s your choice, but I always prefer Crayola), a hot glue gun, a canvas (or really any sort of background although like my choice in crayons, I always choose the former), and a blow dryer.
Trying to create morality through regulations is a contradiction. What should be right is wrong. To be frank, ethics are overlooked because “the men”—the officials, commissioners and people that “matter”—decide to abide “by the book.” Who says that books can’t be rewritten?
Over the past couple of decades, Hollywood has been trying to adapt videogames into feature length films.
A beautiful lake and beautiful music, what more could you ask for? Well taking place this upcoming weekend, Oct.
I recently read the Time article “Teacher, Leave Those Kids Alone” by Amanda Ripley about a new government-imposed curfew in South Korea.
This week’s episode of Community brings a bit of healthy competition to the show, where Annie and her trusty study group compete against Annie Kim in a battle of Model United Nations.
Palm Walk is the perfect runway for all of ASU’s most popular trends. When you look past sorority logos and girls in large sunglasses, we, Sundevils, are even more alike than one might think.
The Gears of War franchise and I have had a complicated history. Those of you who read last week’s blog know that I loved Gears 1 but there were some problems with Gears 2 that really affected my view on the series as a whole.
One time, my friend’s boyfriend took me shooting. I had never held a gun before in my life, let alone shot one, so the kickback each time always took me by surprise.
“Black Out” left Sun Devil Stadium pitch black and the sea of gold leaves our team with nothing less than golden results.
For years the one thing on my mind was getting out of Arizona. I detested everything about it — the heat, the desert landscape, the public transportation etc.
1. How would you describe your personal style in one sentence? I would have to say chic, trendy, and bold with a little bit of funk! 2.
I don’t know about you guys, but “Pan Am” was my most anticipated TV show for this fall. I was superficially excited for the fashion and the atmosphere of the ‘60s, however I was even more pleasantly surprised when a bit of mystery was tossed into the sequence.
The Phoenix Art Museum’s galleries have always impressed me, and now I can certainly say the same about their film showings.
When Johnny Cash insisted on “walking the line,” he did not mean with acrobatics included. He did not mean to do twists and turns, handstands or backflips; especially when that line is a tubular, inch-wide military grade rope that suspends in the air. Slack line, a cross-training sport and a sport on its lonesome, is among the few unusual sports.
Living in Arizona with such a strong Mexican cultural influence, it’s hard not to be drawn to things relating to the culture.
