ASU Police reported the following incidents Wednesday: A 26-year-old man was arrested Saturday on East Eleventh Street on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to a police report. At about 1 a.m., an officer saw the man’s vehicle drifting back and forth within the lane while heading westbound on Apache Boulevard, police reported.The vehicle then drove in the bike lane for 20 feet on Thirteenth Street, police reported. The vehicle turned into an alley after almost striking the center median and a parked car, according to the report.The officer turned on his emergency lights in an effort to stop the vehicle, but the man continued driving, police reported. After the vehicle stopped and police spoke with the man, the officer could smell the odor of alcohol on his breath and asked him if he had been drinking, according to the report. The man said he had not been drinking and that he was Mormon and doesn’t drink, police reported. After failing a series of field sobriety tests, the officer asked him to submit to a portable breath test, which captured his blood alcohol content at .187, according to the report. The man was cited, transported to the ASU Police Station and released, police reported. A 30-year-old man’s debit and credit card were used to make fraudulent purchases on April 16, according to a police report. The man reported the incident to police Thursday after JPMorgan Chase and American Express alerted his wife about the possible fraudulent activity, police reported. He said the debit and credit cards were stolen from his wallet, which he had left on his office desk in building four of the Interdisciplinary Sciences and Technology structures located on the 800 block of South McAllister Avenue, according to the report. He said more than $300 worth of charges were pending on the debit card, but the charges to his credit card are unknown, police reported. The man said one of the fraudulent purchases were made at a Wal-Mart on the 1600 block of West Bethany Home Road, police reported.There are no leads or witnesses at this time, according to the report. ASU Police reported the following incidents Monday:Police are investigating a criminal damage incident in which a vending machine was broken into on the 7000 block of East Sonoran Arroyo Mall, according to a police report. The double-pane front glass of the machine in front of Santa Catalina Hall on the Polytechnic campus was shattered and glass fragments covered most of the shelves, police reported. The outside of the vending machine was covered in dust, but the responding officer did not see any visible fingerprints, according to the report. The vending machine still contained most or all of its contents, and all products inside were removed and placed in temporary custody at the police department, police reported. Although the damage was reported April 17 at 7:20 a.m., a police aide said he had seen the vending machine the previous morning and it was not damaged, according to the report. The damage is estimated at $350, police reported.Police are investigating criminal damage to a plastic clam-shell lock and a safety glass window on the 800 block of South McAllister Avenue, according to a police report. The building manager reported the damage on April 17 at 7:15 a.m., but it is believed that the damage occurred sometime between 3:30 p.m. on April 16 and 7:00 a.m. on April 17, police reported. The yellow plastic clam-shell lock is worth $10 and was attached to the sand-blasting machine to prevent unauthorized use, according to the report. The broken safety glass window was located on the actual sand-blasting machine and was worth $40, police reported. The sand-blasting machine is located on the east side of the building in the rear loading dock, according to the report. ASU Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:A 20-year-old man was arrested Sunday on the 700 block of East Apache Boulevard on suspicion of driving under the influence while being under 21 years of age, according to a police report.Police responded to a one-vehicle accident at 1:20 a.m. and found the man sitting on the curb with cuts on his face and arms, bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol, police reported.He said he was turning into the parking lot of his apartment complex after leaving a friend’s house, according to the report. He accelerated, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a light pole and fence on the south end of the parking lot, police reported.Although at first he said he had not been drinking, he later retracted his statement and said he had two to three glasses of wine at the party, according to the report.The officer asked him to perform a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed, police reported.The officer asked the man to take a preliminary breath test, according to the report. Because he was hesitant and didn’t voluntarily submit to the test, the officer arrested him and transported him to the Tempe ASU Police Station for processing, police reported.At the station, the man took two breath tests and blew blood alcohol levels of .247 and .240, according to the report.The man was cited with five charges of driving under the influence, which included a DUI with a blood alcohol of .08 or higher and a super extreme DUI with a blood alcohol level of .20 or higher, police reported.A 20-year-old man was arrested Sunday on the 700 block of East Apache Boulevard on suspicion of consuming alcohol as a minor, according to a police report.The man was first approached by police after he was observed jaywalking on Apache Boulevard between McAllister Avenue and Paseo del Saber, police reported.The man was asked if he had been drinking and he said he had approximately four drinks, according to the report.He was cited with a minor in consumption of alcohol and ordered to appear in court in May, police reported.Reports compiled by Paulina PinedaReach the reporter at ppineda@asu.edu or follow her on Twitter @paulinapineda22
ASU Police reported the following incidents Monday:A 21-year-old man's debit card was used to make a withdrawal and several transactions on March 19 and 20, according to a police report.The man reported the incident to police Wednesday after checking his Arizona State Federal Credit Union statement and noticed several transactions had been made without his consent, police reported.He said the card was not lost or stolen and a PIN is not needed to make withdrawals, police reported. The transactions included a $300 withdrawal from an ATM located inside the Memorial Union, a $2,072.95 transaction at Casino Arizona in and a $202.95 transaction at a PLS Check Cashers in Scottsdale, according to the report. He estimated the total loss at $3,500, police said.
