Beyond the Border: Skin-tone Similarities

When I was younger, because of my Sri Lankan skin tone, I thought I was African American. Growing up In Los Angeles, people would glance at my skin and think that I'm part of the African American community, and because of that I found myself drifting towards African Americans. The problem was, that I didn't realize that I was letting my own culture go as I was embracing a new one. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't seen as a poser by my own peers.

Desert Sails

The wind blew against the sails, propelling the boats across Tempe Town Lake’s shimmering waters, as ASU’s Sailing Club began its first weekend of practice in its 10th year as a club.

Dancing to Brazil

Alli Dodt and Emily Alvarez, Arizona State University seniors, traveled to Brazil this past summer with their project COMPADRES. The project is all about social engagement in the community through art, something they set out to find in Brazil and bring back to the states.
