Well readers, it’s been quite the journey. From interviews with Bergdorf Goodman models to fashion history from the Titanic era, my blogs have hit all the bases (and maybe a few places in the outfield). For two whole semesters, Broke’s the New Black has brought you trending reports, fashion forecasts, Q&A’s and other countless stylish scenarios. It’s been so much fun writing for SPM and blogging each week. Looking for new blog ideas never ceased to amaze me.

Although many fashionistas of the world would consider fashion a form of art, many others would never correlate the two. Luckily for us, The Phoenix Art Museum definitely agrees and bridges the gap between these two creatively artistic industries. The have a permanent fashion wing, known as the Ellman Fashion Design Gallery, that houses new exhibits every few months.

With neverending wars and a life often impacted by military actions, it is no surprise that this has made a heavy influence in the fashion industry. With multiple popular trends, military-inspired pieces find their way into many styles each year. This blog is channeling my interest in the latest Nicholas Sparks movie The Lucky One featuring none other than Zac Efron. If that doesn’t excite you girls, I don’t know what will.

Toga parties are a necessity in college. With multiple possible toga parties a year on your social calendar, learning to construct your own toga is only practical. The new movie Wrath of the Titans is another reason to dress up. Togas have never looked as good as in this Greek-mythology-inspired film.

If I had to estimate, I would say I own about 30 scarves. I wear them year-round either tucked into down jackets, wrapped around my purse handle or laying loosely around my shoulders in spring. I can’t get enough of them. Effortless and always cute, they give a playful vibe to an otherwise carefree look.

After a full week of sun, pool and beach, there’s a lot more harm done to your body that one can imagine. Although your tan is flawless and your strands look a little brighter from the sun, underneath is possible skin and hair damage. Have no fear: As a sun lover, I could never give up my rays for fear of harm. Instead, there are countless before and after steps you can take to prevent and fix damage.

For all of those with significant others, Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate and express your love for one another. It is also correlated with being forced to participate in the expensive and unnecessary expectations such as heart-shaped chocolates, doubly expensive roses and a fancy dinner reservation. My Sister’s Closet, one of my favorite discounted designer destinations, just announced its latest event and I nearly jumped for joy when its press release found my inbox. Its “Famous Spring Unveiling” was held on Jan. 28, where they released more than 80,000 pieces of new spring designer merchandise. Although the unveiling event already took place, there is sure to be a continued ample collection in their store.
