The boys of Interpol have been rocking together since 1997 with four solid albums, international tours, two lineup changes and a Coachella gig under their belt. With a second round at Coachella coming up and touring for their 2010 self-titled release, the boys have been busy. On the band’s stop in the Valley last weekend, vocalist/guitarist Daniel Kessler spoke with The State Press about keeping the band’s spirit alive after 13 years.

Calif., the foursome of DJ/rapper C-Smoove, rappers Yung and JayAre and resident dancer M-Bone formed Cali Swag District at the beginning of 2010. This quick rise to fame can be attributed to their dance floor hit “Teach Me How To Dougie,” which went viral on YouTube. Their album “The Kickback” was expected in the summer, but has yet to show itself. The group has released four singles filled with their unique “Cali swag.” The State Press spoke to Cali Swag District to talk about fame, the King of Pop and their sound.

Ringing in the decade of the Randy Rogers Band, Texas-native Randy Rogers has grown and matured musically in the past 10 years along with his four band mates Brady Black, Geoffrey Hill, Les Lawless and Jon Richardson. With the recent release of “Burning the Day,” an album that has brought more attention and light to the band than any of their other four albums, the boys hope to expand their traditional country sound outside of their Texas home base. The State Press spoke with Rogers in anticipation of his performance on Dec. 11 in Mesa at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill.

As Queens of the Stone Age took a hiatus last year (do not fret, fans, they’re still together), members began work on their own projects. One of these projects is headed by the latest Queens bassist Michael Shuman, giving us three-man band Mini Mansions. “I think this is like the prettiest room I’ve ever played in,” said Joanna Newsom as she sat down at her harp at Phoenix’s Orpheum Theatre on Nov. 7. But no one else was paying attention to the dark theater; all eyes were fixated on the elegantly dressed harpist as she flitted her fingers across the strings.

Entering the dark stage, guitarist Billy Howerdel takes his seat at a tiny piano while vocalist Maynard James Keenan brings himself up onto one of the tall, circular platforms in the back of the stage. Howerdel plays a haunting melody as Keenan stirs the audience with his deep soothing voice. This opening is eerie, but the crowd goes wild, holding their hands up and waving them to the slow beat of A Perfect Circle's new work.

Known for hits “Hemorrhage (In My Hands),” “Shimmer,” “Bad Day,” and “Falls On Me,” Fuel has been hitting the charts over the span of two decades. After several lineup changes, and eventually the exit of Brett Scallions in 2006, the remaining members of Fuel brought in Toryn Green, former touring vocalist for Apocalyptica, to produce their most recent album “Angels & Devils.”

The Gallery is full of a bunch of pretty-faced guys who sing about life and love. It’s been seen before, right? Wrong. What separates the boys of The Gallery from similar bands such as The Maine, All Time Low, This Providence and My American Heart? They have potential to break the 11 to 16-year-old demographic. However, be forewarned, boys, you walk a fine line.
