Bon voyage, adios, and goodbye SPM readers. Between fashion weeks, lookbooks, DIY projects and street style photographs The Campus Closet has been quite the journey for the last nine months, but just as the old saying goes “everything good must to come to an end.” Like I said in my first post, fashion blogging has always been a passion of mine because it allows me to inspire and be inspired, so hopefully in the last two semesters I have done just that.

If you’re like me, you’re a procrastinator when it comes to organizing your clothes. To me it’s my biggest nightmare to go into my room and see a pile of clothing that is unorganized, so I tend to throw as many clothes into my closet and drawers as I can fit.

Headscarves are my favorite go-to accessory when I’m on the go and don’t have time to do my hair. They’re affordable, adorable and super easy to make, so what’s not to love?

I attended fashion journalist Christina Binkley’s lecture at the Phoenix Art Museum on Wednesday night. Christina Binkley has been the fashion columnist at the Wall Street Journal for the last seven years, covering and attending numerous of fashion weeks and writing inspiring articles for fashionistas all over the globe. Her article "Are You Wearing A Watercolor?" inspired Dennita Sewell, director of the fashion exhibits at the Phoenix Art Museum, to put on their most recent exhibit "Digital Print Fashion."

Yesterday I stopped into the shop Here On The Corner, located across the street from the northwest side of campus, literally right on the corner of College Avenue. Upon entering I was greeted by a sign that said “Fashion is not necessarily about labels, it’s not about brands, it’s about something else that comes from you.” I loved this quote, which lead me into this boutique to see what it was all about.

The college lifestyle isn’t luxurious to say the least. For most of us it’s the first time being on our own, and between rent, food and textbooks, there isn’t much money left in the bank. This semester I have been taking a jewelry making/metalworking art class at the Herberger Institute. Before the class I never really made jewelry other than friendship bracelets. The class has showed me how easy it to create simple pieces of jewelry from scratch; all you need are the right tools, a designer’s mind and time.

Yesterday I took a mini road trip down to Tucson to see Jeff Mangum from Neutral Milk Hotel play a show at the Rialto Theatre. I never really go down to Tucson so I decided to spend the day there wandering around the countless number of vintage shops to treasure hunt.

South by Southwest just ended, Coachella wristbands are arriving in the mail, McDowell Mountain Music Festival is this upcoming weekend and it doesn’t end there. Festival season has arrived and is surely in the air to say the least. But along with the sunshine, great music, and camping, festivals have turned into somewhat of a fashion show for bohemian babes. What will you be packing this year?

Many believe that fashion is only what one wears, but fashion is also an art form with many different branches. From fashion photography to runway to visual displays to illustration, there are many different careers and medias that fashion belongs to and takes part in.

Between the Grammys, Golden Globes and Oscar awards all taking place within the last few months, the fashion industry has definitely had an abundance of red carpet inspiration. Like I said in my post about the Grammys, sometimes the dresses get more hype than any of the awards. Designers definitely did not fail this time around. They dressed actors and actresses to the nines this year with a super-vintage feel.

Last weekend’s 70-degree temperatures got me in the mood for spring. I started going through my closet and pulling out all of my favorite dresses and shorts, but just like with any new season I started longing for new clothes. Instead of going shopping I decided to get creative and turn old clothes into new.
