Fresh-Faced Bright Eyes

It may seem presumptuous, but Bright Eyes' new (and possibly last) album "The People's Key" is a game-changer for the band and for rock music.

Sampling or Stealing?

Over the years, the music industry has endured several scandals involving copyright infringement. Joining those ranks of alleged offenders, Britney Spears and Lady Antebellum have recently been accused of ripping off former acts.

Piece of Craft: Handmade Jewelry from Sweet Tea Shoppe

Etsy is an ideal website designed for the crafter looking to sell their designs and find a following in the creative world.  I always browse through the shops on this website when I get bored because there’s just so many great places to buy one-of-a-kind handmade items.  Really, you never know what you’re going to find!

Homeless shelters across the Valley are seeing more families and working poor as the economy continues to rebuild itself. But due to a lack of resources across the board, many people are being turned away.

Flight of the Carillon

Most ASU students on the Tempe campus are familiar with the sounds of the carillon, but few can explain the source of the chiming bells at the top of the hour or the music ringing around the Memorial Union daily at 5 p.m.

How to: Be Single on Valentine’s Day

For many people, it’s difficult to swallow singleness when February rolls around. Some will scrounge around for a date, but is that really necessary? There are plenty of ways to keep your mind off the roses, chocolates, jewelry and fancy dinners that accompany the holiday of love.

Non-Required Reading: Cowboys and Aliens Take Over

Now, last time , I discussed our first appearance of the Captain America trailer, so you’d probably think I was going to discuss Thor’s Super Bowl appearance. Wrong. Long story short, that trailer didn’t have Idris Elba, so a big-time “meh.” I’m going to talk about "Cowboys & Aliens," also known as the greatest movie ever made that hasn’t come out yet. Here’s a brief summary of "Cowboys & Aliens:"  James Bond is a cowboy that has a weird object on his arm.

Go behind the bar with one unemployed SPM writer as she, looking for an edge on those hard-to-come-by restaurant gigs, takes a week-long course in cocktail jockeying.

Piece of Craft: Love is in the Air...Literally

Whether you have that special someone or you consider Valentine’s Day to be just another day of the week, you cannot deny that something is in the air...and in our case, it’s these hearts!  I happened to stumble across this idea, originally done by Martha Stewart not too long ago and decided to try it out.

Anatomy of a Flash Mob

Sun Devils in the Memorial Union were given a show Thursday as a coordinated freeze-flash mob filled the building’s hallways in attempt to re-energize and lift spirits during a stressful time of year.
